 | Kerry Swanson is a native Washingtonian. Although he remembers building his first crystal radio set at age 7, he officially began his broadcasting career in 1985. His early career includes working in commercial radio at KXLE in Ellensburg, and at KNBQ in Tacoma. He got his start in Public Radio at KPLU in Seattle/Tacoma. He held several positions including On-Air Jazz Host, Operations Manager, Development Director, C.O.O. and interim GM. He went to Atlanta where he was Director and Manager of NPR and Classical radio station WABE-FM. Kerry also served several years on the board of Western States Public Radio and on the board of the Integrated Media Association. His accomplishments in broadcasting include leading some of the early development of online and new-media applications for public broadcasting, and building the network of stations associated with KPLU. |
