Former Portland Trail Blazer Chris Dudley is closer to getting into
next year’s race for Oregon Governor. The Republican today
reported receiving the backing of several high-profile GOP
lawmakers. Salem Correspondent Chris Lehman reports he’s also
raised a significant amount of money.
Chris Dudley has been hinting at a bid for governor for months.
Dudley played pro-basketball for more than a decade, including two
stints with the Portland Trail Blazers. He now lives in Lake Oswego.
Dudley’s never held elected office and his website sheds little light
on his political philosophies.
Dudley still hasn’t said he’ll enter the race. But his fundraising
committee announced he has the support of several Republican
state lawmakers, including four current state senators and former
House Minority Leader Wayne Scott. Dudley’s also been successful
in raking in the cash. For a guy who’s not officially a candidate, his
committee reports more than $300,000 in contributions since the
beginning of November. Nearly one-third of that came from his
agent from his days in the NBA.
